The Eastern Pennsylvania & Delaware Chapter of the American Concrete Institute is pleased to announce its 17th Annual Awards Competition. The purpose of the competition is to recognize outstanding concrete projects. It is hoped that the competition will continue to promote an appreciation of excellence in concrete design and construction among the industry and general public.

The competition is to recognize the efforts and achievements of our chapter membership. A chapter member must be involved with the project as a designer, constructor, manager, or supplier. Submittal projects must be completed between January 1, 2002, and December 31, 2007. Projects may be located outside of chapter boundaries. You are invited to submit nominations in the following categories:
- Precast Concrete Systems Buildings
- Cast-In-Place Concrete Frame Construction
- Civil/Site Concrete Structures
- Architectural Concrete/Precast Claddings
- Concrete Restoration & Rehabilitation
For the Cast-In-Place Concrete Frame Construction category, two sub-categories will be judged:
- Projects Within Chapter Boundaries
- Projects Outside of Chapter Boundaries
Chapter Boundaries include Counties of Berks, Bradford, Bucks, Carbon, Chester, Columbia, Dauphin, Delaware, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Philadelphia, Pike, Schuylkill, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming and York in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; and the State of Delaware.

The jury will consist of professionals in the fields of architecture, engineering, construction and education. Awards will be judged for outstanding conception, originality and application in design and construction. To enter, please provide the information requested on the Awards Competition Prequalification Form (download a copy by clicking here). All submissions must be postmarked no later than November 27, 2007.
First round judging will take place in early December, 2007. Finalists will be notified by mail with requests for additional material to be judged during the second round.

Grand Prize Winners and Finalists will be honored at an ACI banquet to be held on April 23, 2008. The exact time and location of the banquet will be announced at a later date.

Entries recommended for consideration should be submitted on the appropriate form with suitable photographs and descriptive data. Please note that photographs, details of sketches indicating structural merit, unique use of concrete or innovative construction techniques will be taken into account by the Judges. The submitted material must indicate the award category as well as the outstanding features that merit judging.
Entrants with prequalifying projects will be notified by mail and asked to furnish additional materials for the final round of judging. Slides and photographs emphasizing construction sequence as well as completed project will be required. The committee recommends that each entrant begin the process of obtaining these materials promptly to avoid missing the deadline for judging in the Spring.
