Seminars

The Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter of ACI has been pleased to host educational seminars in the local area as a service to the community for many years. Education is a fundamental part of our purpose as a leading local technical resource.

ACI has a long history in the delivery of quality educational programs in the concrete field, and has provided the industry with educational seminars since 1969. Each year, ACI conducts more than 100 seminars throughout the United States to thousands of attendees on a variety of concrete-technology-related topics such as structural design, repair, troubleshooting, and slabs on ground. Instructors are taken from a large pool of ACI committee members who are educators, engineers, contractors, consultants, material suppliers, and others with significant expertise in the topic being presented. The technical material presented in each seminar is based on the most recent publications prepared by one or more of ACI's 130 technical committees and the latest thinking on these topics by the leading experts in their field.

In addition to having the most up-to-date information at each seminar, attendees receive free publications, breakfast (breads/pastries), lunch, and refreshment breaks.

Fall 2011 Seminar

ACI/PCA 318-11 Building Code

A One-Day Seminar

Sponsored jointly by the Portland Cement Association and ACI.

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) has just published the latest edition of "ACI 318-11 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary". This seminar, which is cosponsored by ACI and the Portland Cement Association (PCA), will cover all of the major changes in this new edition of the Code. A major portion of the revisions are related to the addition of adhesive anchors in ACI 318 for the first time. In addition to the new anchor design requirements, the seminar will cover adhesive anchor evaluation requirements and new provisions requiring certification of the anchor installer under certain circumstances. Changes to reinforcing steel detailing requirements, allowable grades, and coating types will also be covered.

Important topics, such as detailing for structural integrity and designing using the latest in strut-and-tie modeling, will be presented and discussed.

Included with the seminar are complimentary copies of ACI’s “Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete (ACI 318-11) and Commentary” and worked examples prepared by PCA— essential items that anyone in the concrete industry will refer to over and over for the next several years.
